BECOMING TRIVIUM

Trivium is a non-profit organization committed to behavioral health, mental health, and long term support services. We serve those who are seeking help but haven’t had their needs met.

Previously known as Crossroads of Western Iowa, Trivium has a long history of empowering those with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, chronic mental illness, and brain injuries towards independence. Our services help clients reach their full potential at home, at work, and in their communities.

In 2019, Idaho-based Recovery 4 Life and A New Path joined Trivium, bringing their mental health professionals who specialize in substance use disorder and domestic violence. Our holistic approach treats the whole person, not just the symptoms. Whether in individual counseling, family therapy, couples counseling, or group sessions, our services help every client reach their goals.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: Antonio

What was your experience with Trivium like?

My experience with Trivium was the best that I have ever had, next to getting clean off of drugs and alcohol. The one thing that I missed the most when being on drugs and alcohol was myself — and that is what I gained back with help from Trivium. They helped me learn how to deal with myself and how to deal with my triggers.

How has your life changed since completing your program?

It has changed immensely. I am able to have a relationship with my kids, my spouse, and overall just be happy.

Domestic Violence Treatment

Violence and aggression are learned behaviors and, like other behaviors, Trivium believes they can be unlearned. Our services help men and women learn to handle stressful situations without the use of physical or emotional abuse.

Trivium’s mission is to build healthy relationships between spouses, partners, and families through counseling, therapy, and positive interaction. Graduates of our programs find clarity and peace of mind to help them start on a new path.

Trivium’s domestic violence services include:

  • Domestic Violence Counseling for Men
  • Domestic Violence Counseling for Women
  • Moral Recognition Therapy-Domestic Violence (MRT-DV)

Domestic Violence Treatments Services: 203 clients served

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: Kase

What led you to seek help with Trivium?

Years of codependent, manipulative, and controlling behavior led me to eventually get in trouble with the law and a court order to seek Domestic Violence Treatment.

What was your experience with Trivium like?

My experience was extremely positive, the staff were very understanding and seemed very well educated. The most important skills that I learned would have to be empathy and gratitude.

How has your life changed since completing your program?

I have been able to take the skills I have learned — like gratitude, abundance, and empathy — and use them in multiple areas of my life. Specifically at work, it has helped me build a culture around vulnerability with the rest of my coworkers and teammates, which has led us to more positivity and success within the business.

Philanthropy

Building for the future

When we took on the name Trivium Life Services, it was to aid us in our goal of expanding to serve more individuals. It is a unifying name that suits our vision and mission of Creating Hope, Empowering Lives, Inspiring Communities. In our time as Trivium, we have done just that — and we have more on the horizon.

With the new name, we also have a new headquarters, moving to the beautiful River’s Edge Parkway in Council Bluffs. The larger space allows us the capacity needed to expand and propel our mission. As we are experiencing rapid growth, we now have the capabilities to keep reaching and developing — including with the new Center of Excellence.

Trivium’s Center of Excellence, located at the River’s Edge, is a development center aiming to create more inclusive leaders through professional development, consultations, and CliftonStrengths Coaching. It is the next step in Trivium’s commitment to inclusivity, innovation, and exploration as we develop strategies that support our desire to expand our reach and increase our impact in the communities we serve.

In Idaho, a partnership with local hospitals allowed us to help more overdose survivors through a “Warm Handoff” into substance use disorder services. It will continue into the upcoming year and touch even more lives. Our behavioral health program will have a large impact in Iowa as well, as we have expanded into serving individuals in Sioux City and Council Bluffs. This is the culmination of years of work, but is just the start of our vision. We laid the groundwork for strong capacity-building this year, and we hope you’ll all stick with us as it blossoms over the coming years.
