Representative Randy Feenstra visited Trivium’s Missouri Valley location on June 8, meeting with CEO Brent Dillinger, members of the Board, staff, and clients.
“I want to be your voice,” Feenstra told the group. “I want to be a very active voice, engaging in different federal issues that affect your organization.”
Everyone at Trivium was happy to welcome Feenstra, who was elected to represent Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District in 2020, and show him our mission in action.
“I was pleased that Rep. Feenstra chose Trivium as one of his site visits here in Missouri Valley,” said Pat Kocour, President of Trivium’s Board of Directors. “His visit gave us an opportunity to share our story and also share our concerns. Rep. Feenstra knows we serve our most vulnerable population. He exhibited his support to our mission and believes we must continue to serve this community in our society.”
The group spoke about Trivium’s services and how Feenstra could support and collaborate on our efforts. The current Medicare reimbursement rate and the role it plays on DSP wages was an especially important topic, everyone agreeing it is a top concern for the industry and the state. They also discussed the need for greater education and transparency within the industry, both at the federal and local levels, and the periphery issues that affect our work with individuals with disabilities, such as housing shortages and supported employment.
“My hope is that he will take our concerns back to Washington with him and draft legislation that will help us to continue to serve our most vulnerable with the services they need,” Kocour said.
