Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Evaluation services are part of our Integrative Mental Halth program and are provided at our Outpatient Clinic in Lebanon, New Hampshire

What is it?

An ADHD Evaluation is a targeted assessment of cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning designed to identify whether or not a person meets criteria for a formal diagnosis of ADHD. This assessment focuses on those domains most affected by ADHD (i.e., working memory, processing speed, executive functioning). An ADHD Evaluation uses measures that assess for attention difficulties across contexts, including objective cognitive tests, symptom inventories, standardized behavioral checklists, and informant reporting. Comprehensive developmental histories and clinical interviews are also used to assess for the presence of co-occurring disorders (i.e., trauma, anxiety, depression). Specific recommendations and ADHD strategies tailored to each person are provided.

An ADHD Evaluation assesses the following domains:

  • cognitive functioning
  • attention/concentration
  • working memory
  • processing speed
  • executive functioning
  • academic achievement
  • psychological symptoms

What does it diagnose?

  • Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Co-occuring mental health disorders

What can I expect?

An ADHD Evaluation assesses for attention and concentration difficulties across contexts and development. Following a thorough history and assessment of mental health symptoms, people are asked to complete cognitive and behavioral tasks, symptom inventories, standardized behavioral checklists, and measures of executive functioning. In addition, collateral information will be requested from someone (i.e., parent/caregiver, teacher, roommate, partner) who has observed the client’s behaviors and can provide additional insight. A diagnostic report with specific recommendations and strategies is provided.

Time: An ADHD Evaluation typically takes between 4-6 hours. Once all aspects of the evaluation have been completed, time is needed for scoring, interpretation, and report writing. Depending on need and complexity, reports and feedback sessions are usually provided in 2-3 weeks.
